ombre

Hi sweet friends! How are you darlings?  I'm very much looking forward to this weekend. I anticipate it will be a busy one: cleaning house, doing laundry, apartment/house hunting, painting, and perhaps going to see Moonrise Kingdom. Until it begins, I thought I'd share with you about last weekend.

My amazing stylist, Karina, was back from maternity leave so it was finally time to get my hair done. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do, but I wanted to stick with red and make it fresh and fun for summer. She suggested ombre and because I trust her with my life, I let her go for it. I sat with foil in my hair that made my head three times it's normal size. The salon was bustling with a wedding party and the young girls were staring at me like I was from another planet. They have so much to look forward to!

I've never done anything quite like this before, but I love how it turned out! After my sister, Ashlee, and I left the salon we took a leisurely walk downtown, grabbed lunch and then found French macarons at the co-op. It ended up being such a lovely afternoon. I can only hope this weekend is as wonderful. Happy Friday!

SexyBack Challenge 2012

I just signed up for the SexyBack Challenge via Carlos Whittaker.

Basically it's 3 goals. Physical. Mental. Spiritual. 12 weeks. Reporting back every Saturday. Love it.

I am so full of excuses and this is a good kick in the butt. I need some accountability and this came at the perfect time.

My goals are as follows:
Physical: exercise 3 times a week and NO soda
Mental: practice piano 30 minutes everyday
Spiritual: participate in She Reads Truth daily

Be looking for my first check in on Saturday. You can still sign up to participate HERE.

being

I've been so off lately. My days have been filled with work. My evenings have been filled with meetings, planning, reading, writing and piano. I've been dying to blog, but everything has been trapped inside my head and my heart. So while I am gathering my thoughts check out these two awesome sites.

My sister introduced me to She Reads Truth a few weeks ago. It's an amazing online community of women committed to daily reading Scripture with the Bible app by YouVersion. You have NO IDEA how badly I've needed this. The past month has been one of seeking God and diving into Scripture. The first plan was Soul Detox. I started late so I'm still finishing it up, but they just started a new plan, Living the Surrendered Life. Connect on twitter and instagram @shereadstruth and be sure to use the hash tag #shereadstruth.

I was also blessed to find Good Women Project, which is another online community to encourage women and have real conversations. The first two articles I read took the words out of my mouth. This is a place of truth and authenticity.

Check out the two articles I mentioned:

life lately

I've been a little quiet on the blog front lately. It's been a combination of not having access to my computer, busyness and processing recent events. That's okay though. It's been refreshing to give myself permission to step back.  I've been reevaluating where I am at in life, what I want, why I blog, lots of things. I realized that I don't HAVE to blog (shocker!), but I find so much enjoyment from it and I'm always learning something new because of it. I'm still trying to figure things out with life, faith, relationships, career, community, etc., but in the mean time I've been busy taking pictures on instagram (@heatherlydee). Below is a sneak peek at what I've been up to lately.

Record shopping. Painting. Letter writing. Coffee drinking. Dressing like a hipster. The usual.

Ballad

I'm back with week five of Shoesday Tuesday with my Seychelles Ballad Flats. These flats make me swoon! I adore the tassels and the delicate lace detail. Did you see the sweet floral pattern inside? DIE! These are one of my newest pairs that I splurged on with my tax return. They are absolutely perfect for the office and the fact that they are a beautiful creamy color means they go with just about everything!

Music Monday: Dia Frampton

Last Tuesday my sister and I had the priveledge of seeing Dia Frampton perform. Sweet Dia put me and my sister on her guest list via twitter. It was such a blessing because we were trying to be responsible and save money. Nate Fowler and Scars on 45 opened for her and they were amazing! I hadn't heard of Scars on 45 before, but I was so pleasantly surprised. They were awesome!

Dia was a rock star! My sister found her and her sister, Meg on Myspace back around 2006. We were so excited when we saw Dia on the first season of The Voice. I loved seeing her live! At one point she even came down into the crowd. Dia is completely adorable and such a sweetheart! We stuck around after and had a chance to meet her and talk with her.

hope

Hello sweet friends! Some pretty rough stuff has happened recently. Things that I cannot speak about publically. Not any time soon anyway. In the mean time I'm fervantly seeking God and clinging to Him and His promises. I am so grateful that even in the midst of this that God is faithful and reveals Himself through His Word and the body of Christ. We serve a mighty God! He is worthy of our praise! Even in the valleys.

Jungle

Hello friends! I'm back for week four of Tuesday Shoesday with my Seychelles Jungle Boots. I've always wanted a great pair of combat-esque boots. I put this pair on my Christmas list in the off-chance that Santa was feeling generous. I originally wanted them in black. Santa did surprise me with these boots, however he couldn't get his hands on black, which actually worked in my favor because I LOVE the green.

As I've tweeted and written about previously, these boots always make me want to dress very 90s. Picture oversized shirts and cardigans paired with black leggings and slouchy socks. I also love pairing them with my faux leather jacket and a messy bun because it makes me feel like a rebel. Haha. These boots are perfection!

Prayer Request

Hello there. Sorry I've been quiet this week. It's been a bit overwhelming. I want to ask you for your prayers.

Do you remember my request at the beginning of May? Well the jury is officially in deliberation after closing arguments yesterday. I think it's fair to say (how very lawyer-y of me) that we are all anxious. It's a waiting game now.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, read this post from October 2010.

Please pray for strength and peace for Kathy and her family.
Please pray for wisdom and truth for the members of the jury.
Above all please pray that God will be glorified in this situation.

I trust in God to work powerfully through this. Please pray with me.
