Hello darlings and dears! I'm back with week three of Tuesday Shoesday. (See week one and two.) This week is dedicated to my Clue booties by Seychelles. I first saw these in the fall look book and then on Elsie's blog. I thought about them and saved for months before I was able to get them. They were definitely worth the wait!

I LOVE the details of these! They are so beautiful that when I wear them I catch myself looking at my feet all day. It was a tough choice between this mustard color or the whiskey, but I figured my Hawk Wedges are whiskey color and at the time I was obsessing over mustards, rusts and maroons. I've been trying to diversify my shoe collection by picking out statement shoes and these gave me the perfect opportunity to do just that. They aren't my most comfortable Seychelles, but they are definitely some of my prettiest.

This past weekend my sister and I were blessed to attend the Beth Moore event in Boise. I had heard of Beth Moore, but I had never read any of her books or Bible studies. My sister and debated whether or not we should spend the money on the tickets, but we decided that neither of us would regret going and we both needed to be spiritually fed. We were both so blessed this weekend. I am so grateful to Beth for sharing her time, her heart and God's Word.

There is so much that I am still pondering in my heart, but I did want to share with you some of what God is teaching me.

Beth spoke about Hebrews 12:1, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us THROW OFF EVERYTHING that HINDERS and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us RUN WITH PERSEVERANCE the race marked out for us." It was refreshing to really dive in and immerse myself in scripture this weekend.

Here is the long list of the questions I had to ask myself when I got home from the weekend:

What is hindering me?
Do I find comfort in those things?
Do I use them as an excuse?
What would my life look like if I was unhindered?
How can I become unhindered?
Will I allow these hinderances to define me and control me OR will I define myself and my life by WHOSE I am?
Will I be obedient to God?
Will I TRUST him with my life?
What has God called me to?
What am I going to give my life to? What do I hope to do?
Is someone hindering me?
Am I hindering someone?
Am I holding hands with Satan?
Will I allow myself to be pruned, disciplined, rebuked, and restored? Or will I fight against it?
What are my spiritual gifts?
Will I use them for God's glory?

As you can see, God placed a lot on my heart this weekend and I have a lot of seeking to do.

Some lessons that I came away with are:

I cannot live life UNHURT, but I can live life UNHINDERED.
I CAN REFUSE to let my circumstances control me and hinder me anymore. I have a choice!
Seek God and His TRUTH! Submit and surrender to God.
Maintain self-control and flee from the devil.
Jesus long to FULLY RESTORE me!
I want to live life FEARLESSLY, in FREEDOM and UNHINDERED.

It is week two of Tuesday Shoesday and I'm back with another lovely pair of Seychelles shoes. (See week one HERE.) Every week I'll probably tell you that the pair for the week is my favorite pair. You see I LOVE all my Seychelles for different reasons, the style, the design, the color, the details. This week is devoted to my Hawk Wedges, the second pair of Seychelles I bought.

Last April after seeing Seychelles tweet about these wedges I immediately went online to check them out. I'd been wanting some adorable wedges, especially after seeing images like THIS on pinterest. I love the subtle details of these wedges; the design and the stitching is gorgeous, plus this whiskey color gets me. They were also available in black and gray, but I didn't have anything in my closet like these and they were a must!

These shoes gave me a new obession with wedges. I definitely prefer wedges over heels for comfort. I can easily wear these shoes for hours at a time without any discomfort. I love the vintage, oxford-ish feeling of these. They are perfect for dressing up and wearing to work, or throwing on with skinny jeans and a gray t-shirt. I absolutely adore these shoes!

God has placed so many things on my heart lately, especially the topic of contentment. That last two and a half years (let's be real, nine years) I've been stirred up, trying to find my way. It has been easy to be dissatisfied with the way my life has gone. However I'm learning that, "If God is all you have, you have all you need." I love that. At times it has felt like I've been stripped down to nothing, but the one thing I'm left with is the most important. I can always rely on God, no matter what my circumstances.

"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:11-13

Stroke at Midnight

If you know me, you know that when I find something I like, whether music, TV show, clothes, etc., I don't like it half-way. I fall in LOVE. I become engrossed, immersed, obsessed. You could say the same thing has happened in regards to Seychelles shoes.

I figured why not share my obsession with you! For the next few :::cough::: seven :::cough::: weeks I'm going to share my Seychelle collection. I told you I was in LOVE!

Seychelles was founded in 1984 in Los Angeles. Their designs are "vintage-inspired with a modern twist." Their style is the "perfect blend of cutting edge looks and timeless vintage details."

The Stroke at Midnight heels are the very first pair of Seychelles I got back in 2010. I'd been wanting a nice pair of nude pumps and it was kind of an accident that I ended up with these. I ordered two pairs of heels from Zappos, these and some Aldo pumps. These made the cut while the Aldos were way too small and uncomfortable.

The Stroke at Midnight heels are so classic and go with anything! I love that they have a smaller heel so I don't feel more like a giant. (Tall girls like heels too!) These are some of the most comfortable shoes I own.

I think this is one of those pairs of shoes that I will wear until they die. Although after nearly a year and a half they still are in excellent condition. I hope they have a few more years left in them! I strongly believe that you get what you pay for and when it comes to what is on my feet I think it is a smart decision to invest in something that is going to last.

Music Monday: Stronger

Have you seen this? A group from Children's Hospital in Seatte performed Kelly Clarkson's Stronger. I know quite a few nurses from college who work at Children's. What they do it totally amazing. This video will definitely bring tears to your eyes. For all of you fighting battles, whether health battles, financial battles, emotional battles, whatever it may be, I pray this video brings you hope.

we think we'll keep you

I feel so blessed to part of my family. We are crazy and have fun. Occassionally there are fights, but we always work through it. They have always supported my choices and cheered me on. I appreciate that my parents have invited me back into their home as I've struggled financially. I know that they will always have my back.

I remember leaving for college. I appreciated that I could call my mom any time; to share my life, to ask help with recipes, to laugh and cry with, to pray with. I am blessed to not only be my mom's daughter, but also to be her friend.

A month or so ago my aunt gave my mom an envelope full of old pictures of her. I was given permission to share a couple.

My mom set this one up. I love her whiskey and glasses. Can you see title of her book? How to Catch and Hold a Man. She has the best sense of humor. I want to recreate this! Haha!

I especially love this one. It means even more since I've started taking piano lessons. Plus she is sitting cross-legged on the bench. I do that when I practice. Now I know where I get it!

one year

One year ago today I started a week long temp assignment to fill in for a girl who was having surgery. It was at some lineman college in town that I'd never heard of. Linemen have schools? They're the ones that climb the poles and make sure my lights are on, right? Okay. A job is a job, right? It couldn't be worse than taking hundreds of calls every day.

That week turned into two weeks. Then I left for two weeks for THE ROADTRIP and they wanted me back when I got home. Weeks turned into months. After being without consistant work for so long I was so grateful for the job. There were ups and downs. And that part where the director of my department left, but I stuck with it.

Through it all I have learned so much and I have been blessed with AMAZING coworkers and so many opportunities. I don't doubt where I stand or if I'm appreciated. This company and my coworkers constantly encourage me, praise me, celebrate my successes and let me know that they value me and they are glad I am there. They invested in me before I was even officially hired; taking me to Indianapolis and enrolling me in an Electrical Systems class.

I can honestly say that I love my job. Can it be crazy, busy and unpredictable? Of course! But I have never worked in such a positive environment, surrounded by such extraordinary people.

The power industry is never something I've though about before. I mean, besides when my lights flicker or the power goes out, I've never given it a second thought. I have a new appreciation for the industry and the men and women who are out there working hard to keep our power going. While I don't know if this is what I want to do as a career or forever, I feel so blessed.

I wrote this post about faith in God and my future right before I was called for this job. It kind of gives me chills. God prepared this path for me. I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I am so filled with gratitude and joy.

clean slate

Sometimes you need to take a step back from whatever it is you are doing, take a deep breath and clear your head. I've been needing to do that all week, but life has been going non-stop and I can't seem to catch up. There are so many things I want to do, to share about and to accomplish, not just on my blog, but life in general. I feel like God is stirring up my life.

I really appreciated reading Elizabeth's blog post today about Clearing My Head. I think I'm at the same point she is, where I need to take a step back from blogging, from commitments and examine my priorities and simplify my life. I want to share things on here that matter and that I'm passionate about, not just slop something together that I think you want to hear. It is easy to get caught up in blogging to gain followers or popularity.

Maybe I'm making a huge jump here, but I've also been thinking a lot about what I want my life to look like. As I've said MANY times previously, my life has not gone how I planned and I'm okay with that. However I want to live intentionally, set goals for myself and strive to be better. I'm tired of my excuses for why I'm not where I want to be. Yeah, there are circumstances outside of my control, but I CAN control MY actions.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I'm ready to turn over a new leaf. Here is to beginning again!

Music Monday: Cœur de Pirate-Comme Des Enfants

Béatrice Martin is Cœur de Pirate which is French for Pirate Heart. My bestie, Jenny, told me about her after I was tweeting about how I couldn't stop listening to Édith Piaf. I was/am going through a phase where all I could/can think about was/is going to France. Jenny's sister-in-law is a Francophile, obsessed with all things French, and had told Jenny about her. Now I can't stop listening to Cœur de Pirate on Grooveshark. I'm dying to get my hands on her album, but imports are expensive...plus I would love to get her album on vinyl. That'd be the ultimate. While I don't understand most/all of what she is saying, I think her music is so lovely and addicting.

top five

I thought it might be fun to share what the top five staples are in my closet. These are my basic of basics and my go-to's when I don't know what to wear.

I probably have 3-5 gray t-shirts in my closet at any given time. In my world there is no such thing as too many gray tees. I've found my very favorite at Target, but you can't go wrong with StyleMint.

For me it is really a tie between maxi skirts and leggings, but all the legging pictures looked silly. (FYI, StyleMint leggings are my fave!) A bonus with maxi skirts is when you can wear them as a dress, just add a belt to define your waist.

I couldn't live without a good cardigan; I especially love ones that add a pop of color to my outfit. The same goes for ballet flats.

After seeing Kelli's posts, I knew I needed to find myself a good chambray shirt. I love how easy it is to dress them up or down. Lucky for me I just found a great one at Old Navy, I love the cut and color.

Ryan Gosling

Back in January, (or was it February) I saw an article on Hello Giggles from Teen Granny about learning new crafts (see here). I died when I saw the Ryan Gosling cross stitch. AMAZING! Have you seen the tumblr? I ordered the pattern here. Ashlee and I decided to each make this cross stitch for our friends, Jenny and Janelle. If anyone understands the importance of Ryan Gosling it's them. I love how it turned out. I still want to make one for myself, perhaps I'll make time next month.

Prayer Request

Today is a big day. Today has been a long time coming. Today Kathy's trial begins and is expected to last  somewhere around 3 weeks. (Read my post from October 2010 for more details.)

I ask that you pray with me for truth, peace and encouragement.

I believe that God is bigger than this situation.
I believe in God's mighty power.
I pray that God will be glorified.
