The Beauty of a Pilgrim

If we try to resist loss and change or to hold on to blessings and joy belonging to a past which must drop away from us, we postpone all the new blessings awaiting us on a higher level and find ourselves left in a barren, bleak winter of sorrow and loneliness.

Georgia Bound

Right now I am probably on an airplane or in an airport with Ashlee, on our way to Savannah, Georgia to meet up with Janelle to visit Jenny for the weekend. I am so excited to spend time with some of my dear friends and explore Georgia for the first time! I love these girls so much! We are sure to have a wonderful weekend, full of laughter and hopefully more fun videos and pictures.

Sometimes (most of the time) there is absolutely nothing better than girl time.

Watch out Georgia!

Wardrobe Wednesday

I wore this outfit on Saturday when I helped Ashlee with a photoshoot downtown. After we were done we walked down to the cemetery near-by and took some pictures of ourselves. When picking out this outfit, I wanted something casual/comfortable, as well as cute and effortless. Leggings and v-necks are the go-to/must-have/staples in my closet. I paired them with knee socks, boots, a chunky/over-sized sweater and a few accessories. Then I just twisted my hair up with a few bobby pins and alligator clips. It ended up being a super simple outfit. After pictures we ended up at The Matatdor downtown for Matador margaritas, Tex-Mex spring rolls and goat cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped jalapenos. It was delicious! Then Ashlee and I walked around and looked at clothes at North Face and Anthropolgie. It was a great evening!

update: prayer request

Earlier this month I blogged here about a prayer request I had concerning my former sitter from daycare. I want to thank you for your prayers and sweet comments on that post.

Kathy called my mom a couple weeks ago and told her to tell Ashlee and I that she loves us. That made me feel so good. I was able to see her today and give her a hug and tell her that I love her too.

Last week Kathy officially pled 'not guilty' and a trial date was set. She waved her right to a speedy trial, with the trial being set for 3 weeks in May.

Today was a hard day. Ashlee and I left work to go to the hearing, thinking it would be the usual 30 minutes it has been the past few weeks. The hearings began at 9:00am, but there were probably 15 people on the docket. Around 11:00am, it was finally Kathy's turn.

The bottom line is that the request for the "no contact order" to be modified so that she could see her grandchildren was denied. As I understand it, she can have phone, written and internet contact with those over 12, but absolutely NO contact with the younger ones. Needless to say, the family is devastated, especially with birthdays and Christmas coming up. Stacie, Kathy's daughter, is especially hurting since she is the one who has to try to make her boys understand why they can't even talk to their Grandma.

It's to hard to comprehend the outcome. After the hearing I just wanted to go home and sob for Kathy and her family, instead of going back to work. However, one of the things that the prosecutor brought up is that because Stacie's boys are potential witnesses, they could be threatened or coached to say what the family wants them to say. It occurred to me in trying to understand it all that maybe it will turn out for good. Maybe this will be one less thing the prosecutor can bring up and try to use against Kathy at the trial.

I may not understand this and I may not think what is happening is fair, but I have to believe that God is working in this right now.

Please continue to pray. Pray for strength for the family and that they will trust God through this time. Pray for Kathy's lawyer, for wisdom as he is preparing the case. Pray for the prosecuting attorney, that her heart would be ripped open with the truth. Pray for God to be glorified and the truth to abound.

halloween inspiration

Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. I'm not a huge fan of all the scary stuff. Not that it wasn't fun growing up, but it was never a big deal. Our Halloween tradition was to trick-or-treat around our neighborhood (to people we knew) and then go to a dollar movie. Occasionally we would go to a party, but we didn't give out candy after the year we had over 200 kids we didn't know come to our door. I loved that it was always low-key, but still fun.

The last two years I spent Halloween in Los Angeles with my friends (as Hannah Montana and Kevin Jonas). We went downtown and watched all the crazies. This year I will be in Georgia as Little Edie Beale. I am so excited to see Jenny and Janelle and have another fun Halloween!

What are your Halloween traditions? What are you going to be for Halloween?

autumn inspiration

When did it become autumn? It has taken it awhile to cool off here, but it finally that crisp fall feeling is in the air. I cannot believe that October is almost over, before I know it, it will be Christmas!

Music Monday: Willow Smith- I Whip My Hair

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) this song is growing on me. Well, maybe it is not growing on me as much as it is constantly stuck in my head. I can't believe Willow is only nine years old! This girl has got serious talent and the video is actually pretty cool. I wish I had half of her dance moves. :)

Check out the second video for a laugh.

cafe dreams

Friday night I texted Jenny and told her that we should open a cafe together. I have always loved cooking for people and think it would be so fun. Ever since I began using Wildtree and then came a representative I have a greater appreciation for delicious, natural, healthy food. Jenny and decided that we would offer cooking classes, as well as have guest appearances (ex. Curtis Stone and Bob Harper). Who knows, maybe one day you'll be stopping by our Bestie's Cafe.
