Hello my sweets. Today at work I agreed to work 60 hour weeks. Oh boy! It will probably just be for this week and next week. I'm feeling a little crazy for agreeing to it, but I need to make up for all the time I was jobless and put a dent in my credit card bill (and buy new shoes). I always seem to get discouraged when I go to work, so I wanted to post a few pictures that make me smile and lift my spirits. I hope they do the same for you.

eat pray love

Hello darlings. It has been awhile. Since my last post I have worked way too many hours at the fire center, spent an evening with funny guys, walked through a cemetery after a storm, played a joke on a new acquaintance, saw a friend I haven’t seen in a few years, ate at the Matador three times, danced at Humpin Hannah’s with silly friends, bought four new dresses, ate vegetables and curled my hair a few times.

Last Sunday Mom, Ashlee and I went to see Eat Pray Love at the movie theater. I have to be honest, I was really skeptical. Last year I tried to read the book, but couldn’t get through the first chapter. I didn’t think I could find any common ground with a woman in her early 30s, getting a divorce and traveling around the world in order to “find herself.” The movie pleasantly surprised me and I identified with Elizabeth more than I thought possible. Tears welled up in my eyes when Elizabeth drops on her knees, praying and pleading with God to give her a sign, to show her exactly what she should do, because I am at that point in my life.

If you know me or have been following my blog, you know that the past couple years of my life haven’t exactly been easy. Since my internship ended I feel lost and confused. I’ve been searching and praying; trying to figure out what I am supposed to do next. I’ve felt apathetic and indifferent. Nothing seems clear.

I want direction, passion, and intention; many of the same things Elizabeth was craving when she spent her year traveling around the world. I personally don’t think I will find my answers, my future and myself by traveling around the world. I know and believe with all my heart that my identity can and only will be found in Jesus Christ. Unfortunately I still don’t know what is next in my life.

One of my favorite lines from the movie was, “Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation.” I love this because it is such a positive way to look at the difficulties in life. I believe that God can and will use our pain, heartbreaks and struggles for good. We hurt, but we learn, grow and become who we are meant to be. John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

So once again I still don’t know where I am headed or what I am doing, but I know that I am being transformed. It hurts like hell, but I am on my way; keeping my eyes and ears open, waiting and praying for a sign from God. Along the way I hope I can do more than just survive; I want to get through victoriously.

Maybe you remember my post about The Big Bang Theory back in May. I absolutely love that show. I think Dr. Sheldon Cooper is my favorite character. I told my mom that if he were real I would marry him, although I don't think Sheldon wouldn't like me. Lol. I think Jim Parsons does an amazing job bring Sheldon to life. If I was still in Los Angeles I would probably hunt him down to meet him.

This song is so powerful and speaks to my life right now. No matter what happens in my life or in the lives of those around me I will always give praise to God. God will always be with me, taking care of me and providing for me, even in the storms of life.

Five Loves

1. L'oreal Ever Pure Shampoo and Conditioner, Rosemary and Mint
After I got my hair colored the last time I knew I wanted to find some sulfate free shampoo. Sulfate is not good for your hair or the environment. I was pleasantly surprised to find this shampoo and conditioner by L'oreal. Not only is it sulfate free, but it also smells amazing. Plus, with long hair I usually have to squeeze a handful of shampoo in my hair before it lathers up, with this I don't have to use very much at all. I definitely recommend giving this a try.

2. The Hangover
I have to say while watching the Golden Globes I was so disappointed when The Hangover one the Comedy/Musical category. Granted I had never seen the movie, but I was in love with 500 Days of Summer and I thought the category was bogus. I mean since when can comedies be compared with musicals? In February, while in Seattle, Jenny stayed the night at our hotel and we watched The Hangover with my mom. OMG! After seeing it I could totally understand why it won a globe. When Jenny and Janelle were here in July we could not stop quoting it so I finally bought myself a copy. Yes, there are some crude parts, but overall I find it really funny.

3. Nook
My parents bought Ashlee and I Nook's for our birthday! In May while in Seattle, Jenny, Ashlee and I stumbled into a Barnes and Noble to kill time and ended up talking with an employee about Nooks. I'd heard of Kindles, but was really impressed with what the employee had to say about Nooks. I was surprised to get one for my birthday, but I am loving it! With a Nook you can download books from any source, not just Amazon. Plus, when my dad bought ours the sales associate told us that if we like the same books we should just set up one account, so whatever books we buy will go to both Nooks. I just finished Kendra Wilkinson's new book on it and am starting Sense and Sensibility. I am so excited for the convenience and flexibility of owning a Nook.

4. Marian Jordan
Back in February Jenny told me that she bought me a book that I just had to read. It was Wilderness Skills for Women by Marian Jordan. Jenny and God knew that was exactly what I needed to hear. Marian shares her own life experiences in a humorous and sometimes serious manner. I love that she is genuine and shares her own mistakes and lessons. Once I finished that I ordered her other books, The List and Sex and The City Uncovered. I loved them too! I definitely need to re-read them all again. Maybe I'll even get ebook versions for my Nook! She has a new book coming out soon called Radiant. (See Jenny's post on The List here.)

5. Max & Margaux's Wedding & Mat & Annie's Wedding
This one is a little strange for me because lately weddings and engagements make me gag. Lol. I've never been one of those girls who have been planning there weddings since they were little and I probably won't be married for years, but I think these weddings are gorgeous. These weddings are like candy for your eyes. The Max and Margaux wedding has been ALL over the internet lately because it is so adorable. I absolutely love it because it's creative and unique and so fun. I also love Mat and Annie's wedding in Tennessee. Her necklace is amazing. (Yes, that is Mat Kearney.)
