Homemade Noodles

If you follow my sister Ashlee then this will be a repeat post. Each Christmas with my dad's family Mom, Ashlee and I make homemade noodles and my dad debones and cooks a turkey in his dutch oven. This is one Christmas tradition that I love! The noodles are out of this world amazing! Below are pictures of the recipe and our noodle making this year.

Notes from Ashlee: We usually mix a double batch in one bowl and roll out two noodles. One noodle makes two hearty servings. For our Christmas Eve we made 20 noodles and had plenty of leftovers. To cook the noodles you put them in boiling chicken broth. You'll need at least a quart of broth for two noodles, but may need to add more broth. Cook for 20 minutes or until done.

Start with at least two scoops of flour. You'll most likely need to add more, don't want it too sticky.

Flour the surface and roll out the dough.

Place the noodles on wax paper and let them dry for 4-6 hours (flip noodles over half way through to help them dry.

Cut the noodle into wide strips.

Then cut layer the strips and cut into small noodles.

i dream of you sometimes

this was posted on le love a couple days ago. i loved it and just had to repost it.

I dream of you sometimes
Yearning for your image to exist outside my mind
Hoping that it will only be a matter of time
Before we meet and allow our eyes to speak
Knowing more then what our eyes can see
Patiently waiting to begin our destiny
This is where my soul will lead
Letting go of the thoughts of your physique
So that I can see through
Wanting to explore
Deep into the truth
Knowing that you are because he already knew
That I was the rib to fit inside of you
No other will ever do
See we never had to choose
He never asked us to
He just wanted us to trust and believe
That I'm for you and you're for me
I'm just waiting for this to be
A sudden sigh
As I drift off to sleep
Dwelling in my unconscious mind
I dream of you sometimes…

2. White Christmas: Classic. Need I say more?

3. Decorations: I love these adorable decorations! They make it really feel like winter and Christmas time.

4. Christmas Lights: I love driving around in the evenings and looking at fun Christmas displays and lights.

5. Candy Canes/Cocoa/Cookies

Awhile back, Miss Elsie posted these adorable cupcake toppers. I have been dying to find any excuse to use them. Sunday we had my dad's family over for our traditional Rohnert Christmas dinner, complete with homemade noodles (post about those coming later!) and my dad cooking turkey in his dutch oven. Ashlee and I decided to make rainbow chip cupcakes and cake for dessert so we could FINALLY use these adorable toppers. We had 4 young boys over who LOVED the mustaches and made us tape them to their faces later! I want to post pictures of the boys, but because some of them are in foster care I am not allowed; so I'll leave it up to your imagination. Enjoy the pictures below of our lovely cake and cupcakes!

Recipe: Hot Fruit Punch

I love this family recipe for hot fruit punch! It is very easy to make and tastes delicious. This is a great alternative to hot cocoa or apple cider during the winter months. Try it and let me know what you think! (Serves 12)

24 before 25

I got the idea to make a list of goals, when Elsie posted on her blog after her birthday. Her post was goals, dreams and silly to-do list... and she wrote 27 goals to accomplish before she turned 28. Ever since then I have slowly been writing 24 goals to accomplish before I turn 25. I have less than 9 months to accomplish these goals instead of a year, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. I guess they could also be considered resolutions for 2010. So here is my list of goals, dreams and silly to-dos before I turn 25.
